Progress Notes created in VistA by iMedConsent contain *No Location* and are not linked to a Visit.
|
Notes created by iMedConsent are meant for documentation purposes only. They contain no load, location, or visit information. Several reasons account for this but number 1 is the consent form documents the interaction with a patient. The consent form can be obtained while the patient doesn't have the required fields. Such as a consent taken over the phone, fax, or after visiting the doctor but before the surgery date.
A progress note created by iMedConsent doesn't append to an existing note related to the visit. A note tied to the visit contains a work load, has a location, and a visit. That note is not linked to the consent form. The consent form note is free standing.
It was also found that the extra steps for attaching location and visit was highly undesirable to the pilot sites. That information is not needed to document the existence of the consent form and lengthened the consent form process.
There are options in the system to not create a progress note and only place the image into a VistA Imaging Category. This is not the default behavior but it is available if you don't want the progress note for documents under local control.
